There is no public, complete payroll for Tucker Carlson’s staff. The clearest specific figure is an alleged $145,000 offer to one senior producer and head of booking in 2022, described in a complaint filed by former Fox News producer Abby Grossberg in 2023. It is evidence about one role and one offer—not a staff-wide pay rate or proof of what Carlson personally paid employees.
What salary figure is actually on the record?
Grossberg’s March 20, 2023 complaint says that in 2022, senior executive producer Justin Wells offered her $145,000 for a senior producer role on Tucker Carlson Tonight, where she would serve as head of booking. The figure appears in the complaint as Grossberg’s account of the offer; it is not a published payroll record or a court finding. Read the complaint.
The filing also says Grossberg objected that the offer was below the compensation she considered typical for a senior producer on a primetime show. She described $175,000 as a minimum and said candidates with her experience were more likely to earn $200,000. Those are her stated benchmarks in the complaint, not independently verified industry salary statistics.
What did the complaint allege about pay comparisons?
According to the complaint, Wells acknowledged that Grossberg’s offer was below comparable male salaries on the team and promised a review after six months. That is an allegation in a legal pleading, not a judicial determination, and the filing does not provide a complete salary list for the team.

TIME’s May 2023 account reported Grossberg’s allegations and included Fox News’s response: “We will continue to vigorously defend Fox against her unmeritorious legal claims which are riddled with false allegations against the network and our employees.” TIME also reported that Carlson’s attorney did not reply to its request for comment. Does Fox’s company-wide pay figure answer the question?
No. Fox Corporation’s 2025 proxy statement reports median annual total compensation of $42,299 for employees other than its CEO for fiscal year 2024. Fox says it used gross cash earnings—including salary, overtime, bonus and/or commissions—to identify the median employee. This is a company-wide measure, not a figure for Tucker Carlson Tonight staff, and it should not be compared with Grossberg’s reported offer as though the populations, roles, periods and compensation measures were the same. - Supported by the public record described here: a 2023 complaint alleges a $145,000 offer made to Grossberg in 2022 for a specific senior producer/head of booking role.
- Not established: the salaries of other show employees, a staff-wide average or range, a total payroll, or what Carlson personally paid staff.
- Not interchangeable: Grossberg’s account of an individual offer and Fox’s company-wide median compensation measure answer different questions.
So the most defensible answer is limited: one complaint describes a $145,000 offer to one senior producer. The available figures do not reveal how much Tucker Carlson’s staff as a whole earned.
