Standard: $19.99 per month
- No advertising
- 1080p Full HD
- Two simultaneous devices
- Downloads on two devices
- One extra-member slot
Standard is the straightforward choice for viewers who want ad-free Netflix but do not need 4K video or more than two simultaneous streams. It costs $11 more per month than Standard with ads.
Premium: $26.99 per month
- No advertising
- 4K Ultra HD and HDR, where supported by the title, device, and internet connection
- Four simultaneous devices
- Downloads on six devices
- Netflix spatial audio
- Up to two extra-member slots
Premium makes the most sense for a larger household, people streaming on several screens at once, or viewers with a compatible 4K/HDR television and sound system. Paying for Premium alone does not guarantee that every title will play in 4K: the content, device, app, cable, display, and connection must also support it.
How much do Netflix extra members cost?
Netflix lists extra members at $7.99 per month with ads or $9.99 per month without ads. The main account holder pays for the slot. An extra member receives a separate account and password, but availability depends on the plan and, in some cases, the package or billing provider.
Standard allows one extra-member slot. Premium allows up to two. These are optional additions—not higher base-plan prices.

| Premium + 1 extra member without ads | $36.98 |
| Premium + 2 extra members with ads | $42.97 |

These totals are simple combinations of Netflix’s listed subscription and extra-member prices. They are not separate Netflix packages, and the exact options shown to an account can vary.
When does Netflix charge each month?
Netflix normally bills once a month on the date the membership began. The billing date can appear one day earlier or later because of time-zone differences. If the subscription began on a date that does not occur in a particular month—such as the 31st—Netflix bills on the last day of that month instead.
The plan price is a base monthly charge. Applicable taxes may be added. If Netflix is billed through a mobile carrier, internet provider, television package, app store, or another third party, that provider may set different billing terms, dates, or amounts.
Can you use a Netflix gift card to pay?
Yes. A Netflix gift card can be applied to a streaming subscription. It is useful if you want to prepay Netflix or give the service as a gift, but it does not reduce the monthly plan price. Netflix says its gift cards do not expire, cannot be reloaded, and are non-refundable.

If you prefer to prepay or give Netflix as a gift, a Netflix gift card can be applied to a streaming subscription. Check the denomination, seller, and current terms before buying; do not assume that a gift card is a discounted Netflix plan.
How much is Netflix for a year?
Netflix bills monthly rather than selling these plans as annual subscriptions. Multiplying the listed monthly prices by 12 gives the following approximate pre-tax yearly cost:
| Plan | Monthly price | 12 months at the same price |
|---|---|---|
| Standard with ads | $8.99 | $107.88 |
| Standard | $19.99 | $239.88 |
| Premium | $26.99 | $323.88 |
These are arithmetic projections, not prepaid annual prices. They do not include taxes, price changes, extra members, or provider charges.

- Choose Standard with ads if the lowest price matters most and you accept advertising and possible title restrictions.
- Choose Standard if you want ad-free 1080p viewing on up to two screens.
- Choose Premium if you need four simultaneous streams, 4K/HDR, six download devices, spatial audio, or additional extra-member capacity.
For most two-person households with a 1080p television, Standard is the clearest ad-free value. Premium is not necessary merely because several people use the account at different times; its four-stream limit matters when people watch simultaneously.
