There is no reliable single cost for running a 24/7 YouTube stream on an Acer Veriton N desktop without knowing the exact model, its average power draw while encoding your stream, and your electricity rate. Measure the computer at the wall while it is streaming, then calculate: monthly electricity cost = average watts × hours per day × days ÷ 1,000 × electricity price per kWh.
Calculate the monthly electricity cost
For a 24/7 stream, use 24 hours per day and the number of days in the period you want to estimate. Use the energy rate from your own electricity bill, rather than a national average: tariffs vary by location and plan.
30-day cost = average watts × 24 × 30 ÷ 1,000 × your price per kWh.
As an arithmetic example only, at a hypothetical $0.20 per kWh, each average watt running continuously for 30 days costs $0.144. A hypothetical 15 W load would use 10.8 kWh and cost $2.16. Neither 15 W nor $0.20 per kWh is a measurement or a claim about your Acer or your local tariff. Using a 30.44-day average month would produce a slightly higher estimate.

Measure the Veriton N while it is actually streaming
“Veriton N” does not identify a single configuration, and idle power is not streaming power. The most useful input for the formula is the average wall draw of your own computer running the intended stream and encoder settings.
- Prepare the normal setup. Use the same video, encoder, resolution, frame rate, bitrate and other settings you plan to use for the 24/7 stream. Let the system reach its usual operating state.
- Measure power at the wall. Use a plug-in electricity monitor, or another reliable way to measure the computer’s wall draw. Record an average over a representative period rather than relying on a brief peak or an idle reading.
- Account for the display correctly. Include the monitor only if it will normally stay on during operation. If it will be off, do not add its power use to the computer’s measurement.
- Convert the measured watts to cost. Put the average watts and the bill’s energy price per kWh into the formula above. For a billing-period estimate, use the actual number of days in that period.
For the energy-only estimate, use the per-kWh energy charge. Fixed monthly utility charges may still appear on your bill, but they are not caused by this stream and should not be added to its incremental electricity cost.

Why an idle-power figure cannot answer the question
ENERGY STAR lists the Acer Veriton Vero N4730GT at 7.6 W short idle, 2.4 W long idle, 2.4 W sleep, and 0.4 W off, along with model TEC of 32.0 kWh. These are listed model and state figures, not a continuous-streaming test. They do not establish the power use of another Veriton N configuration—or even the N4730GT while encoding a live stream. Do not multiply one of those idle figures by 24 hours and present it as the stream’s cost.
What affects the measured draw
The computer’s exact configuration and the encoding workload matter. YouTube’s encoder guidance covers resolution, frame rate, bitrate, codecs and upload capacity, but it does not quantify how those settings affect the wall draw of this Acer. Measure with the settings and content you actually intend to use; there is no supported conversion from a YouTube bitrate or resolution to a specific wattage for this desktop.

Also check that your internet connection can sustain the selected stream settings. That is an operational requirement, not a substitute for measuring electricity use.
Local desktop or cloud-hosted stream?
Running the desktop locally means estimating its measured electricity cost and accounting for the computer, internet connection and any maintenance you expect to handle. A hosted service replaces the local computer’s continuous operation with a service charge, but whether it costs less depends on your measured draw, electricity rate, the service’s current terms, and your requirements for encoding, uptime and control. There is no universal cheaper option from the information available here.

Common cost-estimate mistakes
- Using idle or sleep watts: measure the system while encoding the intended stream.
- Assuming every Veriton N is the same: identify the exact model, then use a measurement from that actual setup.
- Using an unrelated electricity rate: use your bill’s per-kWh energy charge and the chosen period’s actual day count.
- Counting a monitor that will be off: include it only when it is part of the normal always-on setup.

What YouTube’s archive note does—and does not—establish
YouTube’s encoder help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement does not establish that an individual uninterrupted 24-hour stream is supported, so it should not be used as proof of a particular 24/7 workflow. Check YouTube’s current live-stream requirements and copyright rules for your channel and content before relying on a continuous stream.
