There is no fixed XSplit Broadcaster data-use amount: your configured video and audio bitrates, multiplied by streaming time, determine the estimate. At a combined 6 Mbps, nonstop streaming sends about 64.8 GB per day or 1,944 GB over 30 days, before network overhead and other internet use. These are decimal-GB calculations, not measurements of a live XSplit session.
Estimate XSplit’s data use from bitrate
Use this formula, where the total stream bitrate includes both video and audio:
Approximate outbound data (GB) = combined bitrate (Mbps) Ă— 0.45 Ă— streaming hours.
The 0.45 factor comes from converting megabits per second into decimal gigabytes per hour: 1 Mbps Ă— 3,600 seconds Ă· 8 Ă· 1,000 MB per GB. Multiply the hourly estimate by 24 for a day or by 720 for 30 days.

| Combined stream bitrate | Approx. per hour | Approx. per 24 hours | Approx. per 30 days |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 Mbps | 0.45 GB | 10.8 GB | 324 GB |
| 6 Mbps | 2.7 GB | 64.8 GB | 1,944 GB |
| 8 Mbps | 3.6 GB | 86.4 GB | 2,592 GB |
| 12 Mbps | 5.4 GB | 129.6 GB | 3,888 GB |
| 17 Mbps | 7.65 GB | 183.6 GB | 5,508 GB |
These figures assume a steady bitrate and decimal GB. A router or ISP meter using binary GiB or TiB may display a slightly different total. Variable-bitrate streams can average below their configured peak; for planning, use a sustained-rate estimate and check the ISP usage meter during a representative test.
What YouTube’s recommended settings imply for 24/7 data
YouTube’s current H.264 live encoder recommendations list 8 Mbps video for 720p30 and 720p60, 14 Mbps for 1080p30, and 17 Mbps for 1080p60. Its advanced settings recommend 128 kbps stereo audio. Adding that audio rate gives the combined estimates below. These are calculations from YouTube’s recommended rates, not measured XSplit usage. YouTube’s live encoder settings

The actual stream rate depends on your XSplit output settings; YouTube’s recommendations are not a requirement that every broadcast use those exact values. Higher bitrate can allow better quality, but it also increases upload traffic.
Data use is not the same as upload speed
Data use is accumulated volume over time, measured here in GB. Upload speed is the rate your connection needs to sustain at a given moment, measured in Mbps. A stream can use a large amount of data over a month while requiring a much smaller continuous upload rate.

XSplit’s current product requirements list 500 kbps minimum upload speed for its lowest live-streaming settings and recommend 5 Mbps for HD quality. Those are upload-capacity statements, not estimates of monthly data consumption. XSplit Broadcaster system requirements
YouTube says the total stream bitrate must fit within available upload bandwidth and advises testing and monitoring stream health. A connection also needs room for ordinary household traffic and fluctuations; a line that barely matches the stream rate can cause instability. YouTube live encoder settings YouTube streaming tips

Find your XSplit bitrate and estimate your stream
- Open the YouTube output properties in XSplit Broadcaster. Note the video bitrate and audio bitrate separately. XSplit exposes bitrate controls and a bandwidth test for the selected output; codec choices can depend on your hardware, drivers, and platform support. XSplit streaming output settings
- Add the video and audio rates. Convert audio from kbps to Mbps by dividing by 1,000, then add it to the video bitrate. For example, 128 kbps audio is 0.128 Mbps.
- Calculate the planned volume. Multiply the combined Mbps by 0.45 and by the number of hours you plan to stream. Use 24 hours for a daily figure and 720 hours for a 30-day estimate.
- Run XSplit’s bandwidth test for the selected output/server. The tester reads the video maximum bitrate and audio bitrate settings. Compare the measured capacity with the configured stream rate and account for other devices sharing the connection. XSplit Bandwidth Tester Guide
- Test a representative broadcast and monitor stream health. Include typical motion and audio. If the connection cannot sustain the selected rate, reduce the bitrate or resolution and test again. YouTube streaming tips
- Check your ISP plan and meter. Verify the allowance, any fair-use terms, and how the provider measures usage. Include household traffic, reconnects, and overhead when choosing a plan for continuous streaming.
Planning for nonstop streaming in India
No single broadband or mobile-data allowance applies universally across India. Caps, fair-use policies, metering, and plan terms depend on the provider and plan and can change. Use the bitrate estimate as a starting point, then verify your own plan’s current terms and monitor its usage meter during a representative period. The stream’s outbound traffic is only one part of total account usage; other devices and services on the connection add to it.
Reconnects and network overhead can make account-metered use higher than the arithmetic estimate. If your stream uses variable bitrate, actual average traffic may be lower than a calculation based on its configured maximum. Do not confuse broadcaster upload traffic with the data viewers use to watch the stream.

Common estimation and connection problems
- The ISP meter is higher than the formula: the calculation covers the encoded stream only. Check for other household traffic, reconnects, and overhead, and compare the meter over a representative period.
- The stream drops even though the monthly data allowance is ample: a data cap is about total volume, not sustained upload capacity. Test the selected output and leave capacity for other devices.
- The estimate seems too low: make sure you included audio bitrate and multiplied by the full number of streaming hours. A 24/7 schedule runs for 720 hours in a 30-day estimate.
- The displayed GB total differs slightly: check whether the router or ISP meter reports binary GiB/TiB rather than decimal GB/TB.
- Quality is unstable at the selected settings: lower bitrate or resolution, then run a representative test and monitor YouTube stream health.
