Brigitte Bardot was married four times: to filmmaker Roger Vadim, actor Jacques Charrier, Gunter (also spelled Gunther) Sachs, and Bernard d’Ormale. The timeline spans 1952 to 2025, with one discrepancy worth noting: most biographies list Charrier and Bardot’s marriage as ending in 1962, while Le Monde reports that their divorce was pronounced in early 1963.

Why the Charrier dates are sometimes given differently
The usual short-form timeline ends Bardot’s marriage to Charrier in 1962; that is the range listed by her official website and Biography.com. Le Monde gives a more precise legal detail, reporting that the divorce was pronounced in early 1963. These accounts need not describe the same milestone: a marriage timeline may use 1962 as its end year, while the reported court decree came later. For clarity, it is best to retain both dates rather than present one as an undisputed correction.

Why the marriages drew so much attention
Bardot’s celebrity shaped the public discussion of her marriage to Charrier. The Associated Press reports that he was uncomfortable with the public role of “Monsieur Bardot.” The couple had one child, Nicolas, in 1960; the AP also reports Bardot’s account of intense depression and difficulty taking on motherhood. Those details provide context for the period, but they do not establish a single cause for the marriage’s end.
The Guardian quoted Charrier describing the imbalance created by Bardot’s fame: “You can’t have for yourself what belongs to the nation,” he said, “whether it’s BB or camembert.” The remark was Charrier’s, as quoted by The Guardian, not Bardot’s explanation of the relationship.

Marriages are not the same as a complete relationship history
The four-husband count answers the legal-marriage question. It should not be treated as a count of all Bardot’s romantic relationships: the cited accounts establish her marriages, not a complete or reliably countable list of partners. The long gap between her third marriage, which ended in 1969, and her fourth, which began in 1992, is one reason a chronological account is more useful than a single relationship tally.
