Monroe was named in part for Marilyn Monroe, whom Carey’s representative described as a lifelong inspiration to Carey. “Scott” is Cannon’s middle name and his grandmother’s maiden name (CBS News).

Moroccan and Monroe joined Carey onstage during her 2024 Christmas Time tour. In a 2025 interview with The Associated Press, Carey said she would love to make a family rock-and-roll album, adding: “They just have a lot of their own things that they’re doing, and I don’t want to force them to do anything” (The Associated Press).
