Spoilers through the end of House of the Dragon season 2. Alicent Hightower has four children with King Viserys I Targaryen: Aegon, Helaena, Aemond, and Daeron. By the season-two finale, their situations range from a proposed execution to unresolved futures; none of the four has a confirmed final fate in the show coverage described here.
Who are Alicent’s four children?
Alicent and Viserys’s children are Aegon, Helaena, Aemond, and Daeron. The show’s story gives each a different place in the succession struggle, but the season-two finale does not settle all of their futures.
- Aegon II is Alicent’s eldest son.
- Helaena is Alicent’s only daughter and Aegon’s sister-wife.
- Aemond is Alicent’s son who claims the dragon Vhagar.
- Daeron is named as Alicent’s fourth child, though the cited show coverage does not establish a completed on-screen fate for him. TIME’s Targaryen family guide identifies the four siblings.
What happens to Aegon, Helaena, Aemond, and Daeron?
Aegon II
After Viserys dies, Aegon is crowned king. He is badly weakened by the end of season two and has fled King’s Landing with Larys Strong. In the finale, Alicent agrees to Rhaenyra’s demand that Aegon be killed to secure Rhaenyra’s claim. That is an agreement about a possible future action, not a death shown on screen; Aegon’s fate remains unresolved in the season-two account. TIME’s finale analysis describes the agreement and its adaptation context.
Helaena
Helaena is alive at the end of season two. She and Aegon have twins, Jaehaerys and Jaehaera, according to HBO’s character descriptions. Alicent proposes an arrangement that would allow Helaena and Jaehaera to leave King’s Landing, but the season-two coverage describes a proposal, not a departure already carried out.

Aemond
Aemond claims Vhagar and loses an eye in the fight that follows. By the season-two finale, he has taken the Iron Throne while Aegon is absent and is flying toward the Riverlands. His eventual fate is not resolved in the season-two coverage.
Daeron
Daeron is included among Alicent’s four children, but the cited show coverage does not establish a completed on-screen fate for him. His status should not be filled in with events from the source book and presented as though the series has already shown them.

What happens to Helaena and Aegon’s children?
Helaena and Aegon’s children are Alicent’s grandchildren, a separate generation from her four children. Their twins are Jaehaerys and Jaehaera. Jaehaerys is killed by Blood and Cheese in the season-two premiere; Jaehaera is alive at the end of season two. Sky’s premiere explainer covers Jaehaerys’s death and the difference between the show and book accounts.

House of the Dragon adapts George R. R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, but the series changes, condenses, and rearranges events. In the show account, Helaena and Aegon have twins. Sky’s episode-one explainer says the book account includes a third child, Maelor, in addition to Jaehaerys and Jaehaera. Maelor is book-only in this comparison; he is not one of the children depicted in the cited show account.
