In a 2016 Reddit AMA, Favreau praised Pete’s “focus and conviction” and said he had no doubt the character gave his bid to become the Ultimate Fighting Champion his all. He did not say whether Pete ultimately won.
What Jon Favreau said about Pete Becker
Favreau’s response, reproduced by CinemaBlend and Bustle, was: “Pete Becker was a man of tremendous focus and conviction. He set his heart to being the Ultimate Fighting Champion and I have no doubt that he gave it his all. I’m only sorry that that chapter was never closed by the Friends writers because I’ll always have to live with the uncertainty of what his fate held.”
That is an affectionate assessment of Pete’s drive, along with a clear regret that the show left his story unresolved. It is not a claim that Favreau enjoyed every aspect of playing the role, nor a prediction about Pete’s eventual success.
Why Pete’s story was left open
Favreau played Pete Becker, one of Monica Geller’s boyfriends on Friends. TV Guide recounts the season-three arc: Pete pursues Monica, then becomes focused on winning the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Monica ends their relationship because she cannot accept his continuing to risk serious injury.

His comment does not answer whether Pete won, stopped fighting, or went on to another life. Those possibilities remain fan speculation, not an outcome Favreau confirmed.

No. Favreau said he was sorry the writers had not closed Pete’s story, leaving him with uncertainty about the character’s fate. The comment acknowledges the open ending rather than filling it in. So the most faithful answer to “Where would Pete be now?” is that Favreau did not say—and the remark gives viewers no canonical answer.
