Nor does the public reporting establish that she used Ozempic or another weight-loss medication. The clearest record is her own comments about weight and body scrutiny, alongside older exercise anecdotes and a 2024 social-media exchange that sparked medication speculation.
What Melissa McCarthy has said about losing weight
In a 2016 interview with Refinery29, as reported by ABC News, McCarthy acknowledged recent weight loss and said it was not for Hollywood or a film role. She also described weight fluctuation as something that might continue throughout her life: “I’ll be up, I’ll be down, probably for the rest of my life.”
Her comments resisted the idea that appearance should define her. “There are so many more intriguing things about women than their butt or their this or their that,” she said. She added that if her weight were the most interesting thing about her, she might “go have a lavender farm in Minnesota and give this up.”
Those remarks offer context, not a step-by-step explanation of a particular weight change. The available reporting does not establish a specific amount lost or a single method that accounts for it.

What is known about her diet and workout routine?
Diet
There is no reliable, current first-person account in the sources here that establishes a named diet McCarthy follows. Older entertainment and wellness coverage has described high-protein or low-carbohydrate approaches, but those descriptions do not substantiate a definitive or current eating plan.
Exercise
A retrospective profile from Women’s Health recounts martial-arts training associated with the film Spy and a past comment about Piloxing. These are historical anecdotes reported secondhand; they do not establish her present workout schedule or a weight-loss program to follow.

Did Melissa McCarthy take Ozempic?
The public speculation followed a comment Barbra Streisand left on a photo McCarthy posted to Instagram in April 2024. ABC News reported that McCarthy was not known to have publicly discussed using Ozempic or another weight-loss medication. That describes what was publicly known at the time; it does not establish whether she did or did not use medication privately.
McCarthy responded to the exchange humorously. In an Instagram video quoted by ITV News, she said: “The takeaway, Barbra Streisand knows I exist, she reached out to me and she thought I looked good. I win the day.” Streisand deleted her comment and said she had meant it as a compliment. The exchange is not a confirmation of medication use.
