Behind-the-scenes material and reporting on the film show parts of the design and atelier process, while the Musée McCord Stewart later reported that the gown required more than 1,000 hours of work.
A custom Dior creation for the ceremony
Dior created the gown for Dion’s performance during the Paris 2024 Olympic Opening Ceremony. The house’s August 2, 2024 announcement identified it as a special haute couture creation by Maria Grazia Chiuri, then Dior’s artistic director. Dior said the garment’s movement and sparkle came alive with Dion’s interpretation of the song.
The material description is specific: a white silk georgette dress, decorated with graduated sequins and extended by more than 500 metres of fringe covered in thousands of silver pearls. Dior did not publish an exact pearl or sequin count.
What the making process shows
From drawing to atelier fittings
Dior’s official behind-the-scenes video is described as following preparations and fittings in the house’s haute couture ateliers. Madame Figaro’s July 30, 2024 report on the video describes the process moving from drawing into sewing and embroidery. These glimpses show stages of the work, but they do not constitute a complete technical pattern or construction manual.

Sewing and hand embroidery
Madame Figaro describes workers carefully embroidering pearls onto the gown. That detail helps explain how the extensive fringe and embellishment were handled, but the available reporting does not specify the complete attachment method, how the fringe was assembled, or how work was divided among craftspeople.
Dior’s video description also mentions the zaganella technique and artisans from the Chanakya School of Craft. That is a detail Dior associates with the film; it does not establish that zaganella was the technique used to construct this gown.

How long did the gown take?
In its May 2026 announcement, the Musée McCord Stewart said the gown required more than 1,000 hours of work. This is the museum’s published figure; Dior’s 2024 description did not provide an itemized labour record. The museum did not break the hours down by design, fittings, sewing, embroidery, or other stages, and the sources do not state the number of artisans involved.

Dior announced that the ceremony creations, including Dion’s gown, were displayed at La Galerie Dior in Paris beginning July 31, 2024. The Musée McCord Stewart later announced the Montreal exhibition Céline en Dior : un moment éblouissant, scheduled for May 15 through September 7, 2026. That exhibition period has ended. The available information does not establish whether the gown is currently on display elsewhere.
