Its inaugural cohort created personal collections, built a public virtual exhibition, and made digital items available to Roblox users. Bunka later confirmed that a second cohort completed the program in 2026, extending the project beyond its first class.
What Bunka’s Roblox Digital Fashion Program was
Dentsu Group announced the collaboration on October 25, 2024. The five-month program ran from October 2024 through February 2025 as a second-semester company-collaboration class in Bunka Fashion College’s Virtual Fashion Course. Bunka, Dentsu Group, Roblox Corporation, and GeekOut Inc. worked together on the initiative. Dentsu described it as the first program of its kind in Japan to receive official Roblox support. The larger Virtual Fashion Course was a one-year elective established in April 2024. In a later account, Bunka instructor Satoshi Tokuoka described students first learning garment creation with CLO, a 3D design tool for creating garments, developing 2D patterns, and simulating how those patterns form a three-dimensional garment. What students made
The inaugural class included 21 students. Each developed a personal “My Brand” collection spanning digital and physical fashion. Students used Roblox Studio and Roblox’s layered clothing technology to make avatar fashion, then presented their work in a virtual exhibition titled “Bunka Graduation Fashion Runway: Class of 2025.” Dentsu’s February 2025 account

The project linked familiar fashion-school skills—developing a collection and thinking about how garments look and fit—with making clothing for avatars. Bunka School President Sachiko Aihara described the goal as preparing students for a fashion landscape in which technology broadens how clothing is created and worn. She also argued that future brands would combine “sewing and coding.” Those are Bunka’s ambitions for the field, rather than evidence that the program itself guarantees a particular career outcome. How the public could encounter the student fashion
The Class of 2025 exhibition was an interactive Roblox experience, not a shop for physical garments. Visitors could explore the showcase, try on student looks, vote for favorites, and purchase the digital fashion items. GeekOut also described a separate temporary display in the Outfit Tokyo Fashion Mall Hangout, available from March 4 through May 31, 2025. That display period has ended. The sources document the public-facing Roblox experience and purchasable digital goods; they do not establish that the student collections were sold as physical products.
The program continued after the first cohort
In a notice dated June 2, 2026, Bunka said a second cohort had completed the program. The college also reported that six selected graduates from March 2026 were invited to exhibit student work at RDC 2026 in the United States in September. What the project shows—and what it does not
Bunka’s initiative is best understood as an education and creator-economy project: students learned to develop fashion concepts across physical and digital formats, create Roblox avatar clothing, and present it in an interactive environment. Roblox’s platform made the digital work viewable and purchasable by users, while the course placed that work within a broader fashion curriculum.
Dentsu’s 2024 announcement cited 18 million daily Roblox Marketplace visitors in the second quarter of 2024. That is a dated figure from the announcement, not a current audience count. Dentsu’s later account says many members of the first graduating class had secured jobs at major Japanese apparel companies, but it supplies neither a number nor employer names; it cannot be read as a placement rate.
