The moment signals that this powerful riderless dragon may become important in the coming war—but it does not show Daemon claiming him or Vermithor accepting a rider.
What dragon was Daemon singing to?
The dragon is Vermithor. HBO includes him in its official Dragon Index, and the season-one finale, “The Black Queen,” places him in the Dragonmont beneath Dragonstone. Daemon approaches and sings softly to him as the episode closes.
Who was Vermithor’s previous rider?
Vermithor was ridden by King Jaehaerys I. After Jaehaerys died, the dragon remained without a new rider and made his lair in the caverns of the Dragonmont on Dragonstone. That history makes his presence notable as the conflict approaches: a formidable dragon is nearby, but has no rider.
How large is Vermithor?
Vermithor is known as the Bronze Fury. Entertainment coverage describes him as around 100 years old and second in size only to Vhagar. These are fictional-lore descriptions, not measurements of the show’s production model. The comparison establishes his place among the largest dragons, but does not by itself determine how he would fare in a fight.

What is the song Daemon sings to Vermithor?
The song is “Hāros Bartossi,” translated as “With Three Heads.” A community-maintained episode reference credits Ti Mikkel and David J. Peterson with creating the song and Peterson with translating it into High Valyrian. That behind-the-scenes attribution is less firmly established than the scene’s on-screen details.
Does Daemon bond with Vermithor?
No bond is confirmed in the finale. Daemon approaches and sings, but the scene does not show Vermithor accepting him as a rider. In the context of the coming Dance of the Dragons, the encounter most clearly foreshadows an effort to bring the dragon into the conflict. The identity of any eventual rider is not established by this scene.

The closing moment shifts attention to the contest for dragons and riders. Vermithor’s history, size, and riderless status make him a consequential possibility for either side of the coming struggle. The scene points toward that strategic question without resolving it.
