A report from Beijing’s Dongcheng district says local residents went to cinemas to see it, but does not name a cinema or describe a separate premiere event. The documentary follows Beijing’s 12345 citizen hotline and the government reform built around responding to residents’ requests.
What is the Hotline Beijing documentary about?
Your Voice follows Beijing’s 接诉即办 reform, a system that connects complaints and requests submitted through the 12345 citizen hotline with government responses. The film uses real stories and documentary filming to show local governance and the work of frontline community staff, according to the Dongcheng district report.
The report describes seven main storylines:
- Managing parking in hutongs, Beijing’s traditional narrow-lane neighborhoods.
- Installing elevators in older residential buildings.
- The development of a 12345 hotline operator.
- The work of a neighborhood secretary.
- Legislation related to the 接诉即办 reform.

When and where was it screened in Beijing?
The Dongcheng district report says Your Voice opened nationwide in China on February 18, 2025, and that Dongcheng residents went to cinemas to watch it. The report does not specify a Beijing theater, a distinct screening date beyond the release, or whether the local viewing was a special event. “Opened nationwide” describes the reported release, not a verified count of cinemas or screenings.
How was the documentary made?
CGTN Türk reports that filming began in March 2024 and continued for ten months. The outlet says the creative team visited more than 40 institutions, interviewed over 100 people, and filmed at more than 120 locations across nine Beijing districts. These are production figures reported by CGTN Türk, rather than independently confirmed production records.

The Dongcheng publication credits China Media Group’s China News and Documentary Film Studio as producer, with Beijing Gehua Media Group and Beijing Gehua Mobile Television as co-producers.
What happened after the Beijing release?
CGTN Türk reports that the documentary received a Special Jury Award for International Communication of Chinese Stories at the 2nd Golden Panda Awards, was specially recommended at the 4th China Documentary Film Festival, and was nominated for Best Documentary/Science and Education Film at the 38th Golden Rooster Awards. These recognitions are reported by CGTN Türk; the claims should be checked with the relevant organizers if award status is central to a particular account.

The same outlet reports a gala screening at Beyoğlu Cinema in Istanbul on December 13, 2025, during the 13th International Silk Road Film Festival. That later international screening is separate from the film’s February 2025 China release and the reported Dongcheng cinema visit.

The Dongcheng report quotes community worker Zhang Jian, who was involved with a garden featured in the film: “曾经脏乱的荒草地成了小区一景，还被搬上了大银幕，这是大家共同努力的结果。” In translation: “The once messy, overgrown lot became a feature of the neighborhood and made it onto the big screen; that was the result of everyone’s shared effort.”
