At the time, Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson said she and boyfriend Dralin Carswell were struggling to find another rental. By October 2026, a report said the couple had purchased a home in Colorado, though that account has not been confirmed here with property records.
Why was Honey Boo Boo looking for a place to live?
In an August 28, 2024 report, The Denver Gazette said Thompson was attending Regis University in Denver and searching for housing with Carswell. Thompson attributed difficulty getting approved to her limited credit history and Carswell’s student loans: “We’ve been searching everywhere for a new place, but Dralin’s student loans and my lack of credit have made it nearly impossible to get approved.”
That was Thompson’s explanation of the search, not independent confirmation of why any particular landlord did or did not approve an application. The headline’s “sad reason” framing should therefore be understood as referring to her account of the rental-approval challenge, rather than a verified finding about a landlord’s decision.
What did she later clarify about the move?
The next day, The Ashley’s Reality Roundup reported that Thompson pushed back on online speculation about Carswell’s record or rental history. It quoted her clarification that they were not renewing their lease because they wanted a larger yard for their dogs, a better area, and easier parking.

These accounts describe related but distinct points: Thompson first cited credit and student-loan issues when discussing approval difficulties, then said the decision not to renew was also motivated by the kind of place and neighborhood the couple wanted. The available reporting does not establish that speculation about Carswell’s record caused the housing search.

No current homelessness is established by the reporting summarized here. A Parade report dated October 3, 2026 says Thompson and Carswell announced they had bought a home in Colorado. This is a secondary report based on social posts and entertainment coverage; it is not a reviewed deed or property record.
