Hogwarts Legacy 2 is confirmed as a forthcoming game in Warner Bros. Discovery’s pipeline, but no release date or window has been announced. The new Harry Potter television series is set to debut at Christmas 2026, and the game’s story has been reported as coordinated with the series. That connection does not confirm that the releases will coincide.
What is confirmed about Hogwarts Legacy 2?
Warner Bros. Discovery’s August 6, 2026 shareholder letter lists “the second installment of Hogwarts Legacy” in its games pipeline. The letter does not give the sequel’s official title, platforms, release date, or launch window. Read the shareholder letter filed with the SEC.
When will the new Harry Potter series premiere?
Warner Bros. Discovery announced on March 25, 2026, that the eight-episode first season, titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, will debut on HBO at Christmas 2026. The company says it will stream exclusively on HBO Max where that service is available; access therefore depends on the viewer’s market. See Warner Bros. Discovery’s announcement.
Is the sequel connected to the HBO series?
There is a reported storytelling connection, but not an announced shared launch plan. In a November 6, 2024, Variety feature, then-Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment president David Haddad was reported to have said that the games team was coordinating some big-picture storytelling elements in the sequel with storylines planned for the HBO series. The report does not say the game and series will release together. Read Variety’s report.

Could Hogwarts Legacy 2 still launch alongside the series?
It is possible, but the available announcements do not establish that it will happen. A game and television series can share story planning without sharing a premiere date or even a release year. Until Warner Bros. announces the game’s timing, a Christmas 2026 launch—or any other specific window—would be speculation, not confirmed news.
How successful was the original Hogwarts Legacy?
Variety reported in November 2024 that the original Hogwarts Legacy had passed 30 million units sold as of October 2024. That is a dated sales milestone, not a current total. The milestone appears in Variety’s feature.
