Hasbro has also announced plans for film-inspired toys and roleplay products. A May 2026 report says the film is expected to go straight to streaming in 2027, but the sources available do not establish an exact release date or definitively name the streaming service.
When will the live-action Voltron film be released?
GamesRadar reported on May 12, 2026, that the film would skip theaters and go directly to streaming, with 2027 expected as its release year. The report does not give a specific date. No definitive streaming destination is established in the sources cited here, so a service should not be treated as confirmed. GamesRadar’s May 2026 report is the basis for the streaming and 2027 status; a firm date or platform announcement is not included there.

Who is in the Voltron movie cast?
Hasbro’s February 4, 2026 announcement names Henry Cavill, Sterling K. Brown, Alba Baptista and Rita Ora in the cast. It credits Rawson Marshall Thurber as director and story writer, and Ellen Shanman and Thurber as screenplay writers. Hasbro’s announcement is the official source for those credits.
GamesRadar also reports additional cast members, including John Harlan Kim, Samson Kayo, Tharanya Tharan, Laura Gordon, Tim Griffin and Nathan Jones. Those names and the character assignments in that report are not included in Hasbro’s cited announcement, so they are best understood as reported details rather than the official cast list. GamesRadar’s cast coverage provides that additional reporting.

What character does Henry Cavill play?
The sources cited here confirm Cavill as a star but do not establish which character he plays. TheWrap reported in October 2024 that his role was being kept under wraps at that time; that dated report does not establish whether a later announcement has been made. TheWrap’s October 2024 report also named Daniel Quinn-Toye, but Hasbro’s 2026 announcement is the more recent official cast source.
What is the film about, and is it a reboot?
The new film’s plot and its relationship to earlier Voltron screen stories are not established in the cited sources. TheWrap describes the franchise premise as space explorers piloting giant robots that combine into one larger robot; that is background about the franchise, not a confirmed synopsis of this film. TheWrap also dates the franchise’s debut in syndication to 1984. TheWrap’s coverage provides that franchise context.

Yes, Hasbro has announced a collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios to produce action figures, toys and roleplay products inspired by the film. The announcement does not specify product names, a launch date or retail availability, so it does not mean particular movie merchandise is already on sale. Updates on those plans are part of Hasbro’s official announcement.
