The first trailer for Hellboy: The Crooked Man arrived on July 1, 2024. It introduces Jack Kesy as Hellboy—not as the Crooked Man, the separate demon antagonist played by Martin Bassindale. The film takes the comic-book hero into a 1950s Appalachian horror story about witchcraft and a community threatened by demonic forces.
Who does Jack Kesy play?
Jack Kesy plays Hellboy, the titular character of the film. Martin Bassindale plays the Crooked Man, a distinct antagonist described as a demon who collects souls for the devil. The title names the villain, but the trailer’s starring role belongs to Hellboy.
When did the first trailer come out?
ONE Media and Ketchup Entertainment published the first trailer on July 1, 2024. Its arrival introduced this new screen version of the character as a rural supernatural horror story rather than suggesting that Kesy plays the demon named in the title.
What is the film about?
Icon Film Distribution’s synopsis places the story in 1950s rural Appalachia. After a mission goes awry, Hellboy is paired with Bobbie Jo Song, a rookie paranormal researcher. They encounter demonic forces and investigate witchcraft as the Crooked Man’s influence threatens the local community.

How do release listings and runtimes differ by region?
Listings establish regional details, not a single worldwide release date or runtime. Apple TV’s United States catalog listing identifies the film as a 2024 action-horror movie and gives a runtime of 1 hour 39 minutes. Mega Films Distribution lists a September 12, 2024 release and a 100-minute runtime. These are figures from separate listings; neither should be treated as a universal date or duration.
