HBO has cast Billy Barratt as Tom Riddle for season two of its Harry Potter series. Tom Riddle is Voldemort’s younger identity, but the announcement does not identify an actor for Voldemort at other ages or forms.
Who is playing young Voldemort?
Billy Barratt will play Tom Riddle in season two, according to Warner Bros. Discovery’s September 4, 2026 announcement. The role is Tom Riddle—not a general announcement that Barratt will portray Voldemort in every form.

The Los Angeles Times described Tom Riddle as “young Voldemort”. The distinction matters because the announcement names a character and season, but says nothing about how the series will cast Voldemort at other ages.
What else did HBO announce?
The same official cast announcement names two other season-two additions:

- Lenny Rush as Dobby

It does not specify Barratt’s episode, scene, or how much of the season his role covers.
Has HBO named an actor for Voldemort at other ages?
Not in the cited announcement. The Los Angeles Times notes that the Harry Potter films used multiple actors to portray Voldemort at different ages, but says it remains unclear whether HBO’s series will take the same approach. That film precedent does not establish the television series’ casting plan.

When will season two premiere?
The September 4 casting announcement gives no season-two premiere date. HBO’s later official franchise showcase describes the series as coming to HBO Max at Christmas, but does not give a precise date for this season-two casting update. An earlier production announcement said the series would debut in 2027 on HBO and HBO Max where available; the later Christmas wording is the more current seasonal window in the cited official material, not a precise premiere date.
