Adam’s death in Hazbin Hotel Season 1 still stands in Season 2. Creator Vivienne Medrano has explained that Adam’s Season 2 presence is tied to Lute’s grief and deteriorating mental health—not a confirmed resurrection. His story continues through the consequences of his death and its effect on Lute.
Is Adam really dead in Hazbin Hotel?
Yes. Medrano said Adam was “always destined to be the first one to go down,” and that the first part of the story ends with his death. That makes the Season 1 twist a genuine turning point, rather than a fake-out designed to be undone immediately. Listen Notes’ transcript of Medrano’s interview with Joe Vulpis records her description of the story ending in Adam’s death.
Medrano also said the show had found ways to keep Adam around and mentioned flashbacks as a possibility, while leaving open what the future might hold. That comment does not confirm a return to life, nor does it establish that a particular flashback will appear.
How does Adam appear in Season 2?
After the October 2025 New York Comic Con panel, Medrano described Adam in Season 2 as “the manifested representation of Lute’s deterioriating mental health/grief.” The spelling in that quotation follows Popverse’s published wording. Popverse’s report presents this as the creator’s explanation of Adam’s role in the season.

The distinction matters: Adam can remain present in the story without the series reversing his death. The explanation puts Lute’s grief at the center of that presence. It does not establish whether other characters can perceive the manifestation, or specify more about what Lute thinks or experiences beyond Medrano’s description.
Why Adam’s death matters to the next conflict
Lute is the link between Adam’s Season 1 fate and the story that follows. His death is not only a change in the cast; the creator’s account makes its effect on Lute part of how Adam remains relevant in Season 2. That gives the twist continuing weight without requiring a resurrection.

Season 2 also expands the Heaven side of the story. Amazon’s cast list includes Patrick Stump as Abel, and the Prime Video synopsis for “Storyteller” says Sir Pentious’s redemption creates a stir in Heaven. Those official details establish a broader Heaven storyline, but they do not, by themselves, establish a further Adam plot. Prime Video’s Season 2 listing provides the episode descriptions.
