In their last confirmed update, dated February 18, 2026, the couple said they had not settled on a city, expected to keep their current houses, and planned to eventually share a place somewhere else. Florida came up only as a possibility. If a later announcement exists, we have not been able to confirm it, so treat the status below as the position as of February 2026.
Where the couple stands
Vassos and Chapple became engaged during the first season of The Golden Bachelorette. Since then they have spent time in their separate hometowns and traveled together, but they do not live in the same place. Each has an established life, and that is the main reason the location question has taken longer than the engagement timeline might suggest.
Their current home bases
Two places are firmly tied to the couple at present:
- Maryland (Vassos). Vassos said she lives in Maryland near her children and grandchildren. Family is the anchor for that home.
- Wichita, Kansas (Chapple). Chapple lives in Wichita and has a business there that needs his attention, as Vassos described it in January 2026.
Neither partner has said they plan to give up these homes. Their February 2026 remarks suggest that both expect to keep them, with a third, shared home added later.

How the plan has changed
The couple’s thinking about a shared base has shifted several times since late 2024. The table below lists each report in date order, with the status it implies. Only the February 2026 update is the most recent confirmed statement.
| Date | Source | What the couple described | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| November 26, 2024 | KCUR/KMUW interview | Chapple described dividing time among Wichita, Maryland, and a New York apartment, and acknowledged that managing three locations would take effort. | Three-location plan, with New York apartment still being firmed up |
| June 22, 2025 | Swooon interview | The couple were looking for a New York rental as an interim meeting place. They had not found the right fit and remained open to other neighborhoods. | Unresolved; New York was an idea, not a settled choice |
| January 27, 2026 | Bachelor Nation | The couple did not live together. Vassos said they had not worked out how to combine their established lives, and that a move was probably not happening in 2026. | No move expected in 2026 |
| February 18, 2026 | Bachelor Nation | Vassos said they had not figured out the city and would probably keep their existing houses while sharing a place elsewhere. Chapple suggested Florida might be a contender. | Unresolved; latest confirmed update |
New York was the most concrete option the couple discussed publicly, but no lease or purchase was reported. Florida has been mentioned only as a possible contender, and it should not be read as a decision.

What the couple have said in their own words
These are direct remarks from the couple, each tied to the source named above:
- Vassos on a shared home: “I think we will probably keep our houses and we’ll have a love shack somewhere nice.” (February 2026)
- Chapple on timing: “So you might look for something in 2027.” (February 2026)
- Vassos on the long-distance year: “We don’t live together and we’re not married yet, but that is all okay and I hope that doesn’t distress you.” (January 2026)
- Vassos on how their situation differs from a new couple’s: “It’s a little different, though. It’s not like when young people get together and they’re building a life together. We both already have these really rich lives and we haven’t figured out how we’re going to merge them yet, but we will.” (January 2026)
- Chapple on the original New York plan: “What we want to do now is to get the (new apartment) solidified in New York, to spend time with the family over the holidays, and then really start talking about that in January.” (November 2024)
Why the decision is taking time
The couple’s own explanations point to three factors. First, each partner has a home base tied to family or business, so moving in together means one or both giving up a settled routine. Second, Vassos has said they have not yet worked out how to merge their lives, which is a practical question rather than a question of commitment. Third, the timeline has moved: a plan that once centered on a New York apartment for the holidays gave way to a more open search, and by early 2026 the couple were talking about 2027 as a realistic window.

How to check whether a decision has been announced
Because the latest confirmed update is from February 2026, a later announcement may exist. To verify, look for:
- A direct statement from Vassos or Chapple on their official social accounts or in a dated interview, which carries more weight than a secondhand report.
- A named city in the report, not just a state or region. Florida and New York have both been floated, so a report that names only one of them is not a confirmed decision.
- Whether the report describes a lease, purchase, or move date. Those details separate a completed decision from talk of plans.
If a report from after February 18, 2026 names a city and a move timeline, it should supersede the status described here.
