Tom Felton’s movie-related comment about Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was conditional: in 2018, he said he would return as Draco Malfoy if the play became a movie. That was not an announcement that a film had been approved or was in production. The latest official update involving Felton is about the Broadway stage production, where he is set to play grown-up Draco through January 3, 2027.
What did Tom Felton say about a Cursed Child movie?
An Access page dated November 23, 2018, summarizes Felton as willing to return as Draco if Cursed Child became a movie. The page provides a video description, not a transcript, so the reported position is best treated as a paraphrase rather than an exact quotation. Access’s 2018 report
That comment expressed willingness to reprise the role in a hypothetical adaptation. It did not confirm a film, a production start, a release date, or a cast.

Has a Cursed Child movie been announced?
The official material cited here announces stage productions, not a film. It does not give a movie release date or confirm that a movie is in development. That is a report on the official updates reviewed, not a claim about every possible private discussion.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a play. Its script book was published in 2016, according to J.K. Rowling’s official FAQ. The book is the text of the play, not a movie tie-in. Rowling’s FAQ entry on the script book
