Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking is a Food Network baking competition in which pairs of professional pastry chefs and cake artists build large, edible showpieces inspired by the Harry Potter films. James and Oliver Phelps host, Carla Hall and Jozef Youssef judge, and Food Network has announced a third season for its fourth-quarter 2026 holiday lineup. The network has not yet published a premiere date.
What the show is
The series is a competition, not a documentary, although it borrows the behind-the-scenes texture of one. Food Network describes teams of professional pastry chefs and cake artists working at Leavesden Studios in England, the production base associated with the Harry Potter films, on sets connected to the saga. Each challenge asks them to produce a large edible piece based on a moment, place or theme from the books and films. The format blends baking skill with film nostalgia, and guests from the movies make appearances.
Hosts and judges
James and Oliver Phelps, who played Fred and George Weasley, host the series. Carla Hall and Jozef Youssef return as the culinary judges, so the panel stayed the same across the seasons covered by Food Network’s official show page and its season announcements.
How a challenge works
Each episode centres on one theme, and the bakers have a set window to plan, build and finish their pieces before judging. Food Network’s Season 2 episode guide lists these challenge themes:
#1 Best Overall
- Hogwarts houses
- Magical transportation
- Edible artifacts
- Magical beasts
- The Goblet of Fire
The showpieces are professional-scale work. The series does not present them as something a home baker can reproduce with ordinary kitchen equipment, and the official sources do not identify specific tools or brands used on set.
Season by season
Food Network’s own announcements give the team structure and episode counts for the first two seasons and a partial description of the third. The table below uses only those published figures.
| Season | Teams | Episodes | Format notes | Source and date |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Season 1 | Nine teams | Six episodes | Team size not stated | Food Network launch announcement, September 26, 2024 |
| Season 2 | Eight teams of two | Six episodes | Filmed at Leavesden Studios; challenge themes listed above | Food Network sneak-peek article, updated November 3, 2025 |
| Season 3 | Team count not stated; teams represent Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin | Not stated | Each episode pays tribute to a Harry Potter film, timed to the first film’s 25th anniversary | Food Network Season 3 announcement, updated September 1, 2026 |
The clearest change in Season 3 is structural. Rather than pairs of bakers chosen for individual challenges, the announcement frames the season around the four Hogwarts houses, and each episode is built around one film. Because the announcement does not give a team count or episode total, neither should be assumed from earlier seasons.
When Season 3 starts
As of October 2026, Food Network has announced Season 3 for its fourth-quarter holiday lineup. The official announcement does not give an exact premiere date or an episode schedule. Check the show’s page on Food Network for an updated date before planning a viewing schedule.
The season is framed around the anniversary. Betsy Ayala, President of Food Network, said: “This year is especially exciting as fans celebrate the 25th anniversary of the first film,” in the Season 3 announcement.
Where to watch
Food Network’s September 26, 2024 launch announcement said the first season would stream on Max and discovery+ on the same day as its premiere. That was launch-time language for that season and does not confirm where any season is available today. Streaming catalogs change, and availability depends on country. Before you watch, check:
Rank #4
- The current listing on Food Network’s official site or app for the season you want.
- Whether the season appears on the streaming service in your country, since availability is not universal.
- Whether the episodes you need are in the catalog you have access to, because seasons may not all be listed in the same place.
The official companion guide
Food Network’s April 3, 2025 feature describes an official companion guide with more than 100 pages. According to that feature, the guide includes behind-the-scenes details, photographs of the sets and official recipes. It is the most direct way to try the show’s own recipes or to learn how the pieces were made.
Before buying, confirm the exact title, edition, current price and stock with the retailer, because the feature does not give those details.

Once you have the guide, it covers the recipes and set material in one place, which makes it a more useful starting point than the episodes alone if your aim is to attempt a bake.
For the complete picture, the season announcements remain the authoritative source for dates and team structure, and the official show page is where schedules and episode lists will appear first.
