Happy Gilmore 2 is streaming on Netflix, with Adam Sandler back as the hot-tempered golfer. The sequel jumps nearly 30 years ahead, gives Happy a family-centered reason to return to golf, and brings back familiar faces alongside professional golfers and celebrity cameos.
1. You can watch it on Netflix
Netflix lists Happy Gilmore 2 as a 2025 film, with a runtime of 1 hour 58 minutes and a PG-13 rating. Netflix’s Tudum overview says it is streaming now. Availability can change, so check Netflix’s catalog in your region before planning to watch.
2. Happy returns to golf almost 30 years later
The sequel catches up with Happy nearly three decades after the original. Netflix’s account of the character’s history says he won the Tour Championship in 1996; that date refers to the fictional story, not a real golf result. Now Happy is raising five children—four sons and his daughter Vienna—and tries to fund Vienna’s ballet program in Paris by making a golf comeback.
The family goal gives the sequel its central motivation: Happy is not simply chasing another win, but trying to help his daughter pursue a dream.

3. Several original cast members return
Sandler returns as Happy Gilmore, with Julie Bowen as Virginia and Christopher McDonald as Shooter McGavin. Ben Stiller also returns as Hal L., and Netflix names Blake Clark among the original-film cast members back for the sequel. Their presence reconnects the new story with the people and rivalries audiences remember from the first film.
4. The ensemble mixes pro golfers with celebrity appearances
The film’s roster extends well beyond its returning leads. Netflix’s cast guide names professional golfers John Daly, Paige Spiranac, Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas and Will Zalatoris. It also identifies Bad Bunny, Eminem, Travis Kelce, Steve Buscemi, Eric André and Benny Safdie among the wider celebrity ensemble.

5. The creative team keeps a link to the original
Kyle Newacheck directs. Tim Herlihy, who co-wrote the original, returns as co-writer; Dennis Dugan is executive producer, while Jack Giarraputo and Robert Simonds produce. Netflix’s cast guide quotes Newacheck describing the cast’s enthusiasm for the film as “unequivocal”—his characterization, rather than a measure of audience response.

6. Callaway made golf gear tied to the film
Happy’s hockey-style approach to golf has a real-world counterpart: Netflix announced a limited-edition Callaway golf-ball tie-in and an Odyssey Hockey Stick Putter. The putter is a direct nod to Happy’s unconventional equipment. The announcement establishes the film connection, but not present-day stock, price or retailer availability.
7. Some launch promotions were temporary
Netflix’s June 26, 2025 brand-partnership announcement said Subway’s Happy Gilmore Meal and limited-edition cups would begin July 10 at U.S. locations, while supplies lasted. It also identified U.S. Bank as a sponsor of the Champions Tour premiere. These were campaign details tied to the launch, not confirmation that the offers remain available.
