What is Halo: Campaign Evolved?
Halo Studios describes Halo: Campaign Evolved as a ground-up remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s campaign. Its announcement says the game rebuilds the environments with high-definition visuals, improved controls, and refined level design. The campaign also adds three missions set before the events of Combat Evolved, featuring Sergeant Avery Johnson alongside Master Chief. Halo Waypoint’s announcement outlines the remake’s scope.
The official materials describe a campaign remake and campaign co-op; they do not establish that the original game’s competitive multiplayer is included.
When did it come out, and where can you play it?
The official global release date was July 28, 2026, and early access for qualifying editions began July 23. The launch time was 8:00 a.m. PDT; Japan and select Asia-Pacific markets had a July 29 local calendar date. Those dates have passed. The game is listed for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Steam. Halo Studios’ story reveal and Xbox Wire’s launch announcement give the release and platform details.

Xbox Wire says the game supports cross-play and shared progression across Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, Steam, and PS5. A Microsoft account is required. PS5 and Steam players are prompted to link their platform ID to a Microsoft account for cross-platform friend access, according to the Halo Waypoint early-access primer.
What is included in the campaign and co-op?
Halo Studios lists 13 campaign missions in total, including the three new prequel missions. The studio describes online or networked co-op for up to four players. On Xbox Series X|S and PS5, two players can also play together in split-screen. These are official feature counts, not player-count or sales figures. How can you get the game?
The options described in official launch and edition information are a standalone edition or access through specific Game Pass subscriptions. Xbox Wire said the game was available on day one to Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers; the announcement does not say that every Game Pass tier includes it. Xbox Wire’s launch announcement lists those tiers.
The Digital Premium Edition was described as including a digital artbook, a short story by Troy Denning, a digital manual, and cosmetic packs. Check the current store listing in your region for the available editions and their contents. Official edition information is on Halo Waypoint.

Physical and collector editions
The announced physical Collector’s Edition included an Xbox Series X or PS5 game disc, a SteelBook, a 12-inch Master Chief statue by Dark Horse, an LED Cortana data-chip replica, three concept-art prints, and a physical manual. Halo Waypoint reported on June 8, 2026, that this Collector’s Edition had sold out. That update does not establish current resale prices, current stock, or whether a standard physical edition is available in a particular region. Check the edition and stock directly before buying; the official edition page documents the listed contents and sellout update.
