What did the lawsuit allege about Lacey Chabert?
Perry’s complaint, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on October 9, 2024, reportedly attributed age-related remarks about Hallmark actors to programming executive Lisa Hamilton Daly. The Independent and Associated Press reported that the complaint alleged Hamilton Daly said the network’s leading ladies were “aging out” and that Hallmark needed replacements.

As reported from the complaint, Hamilton Daly allegedly said: “Lacey’s getting older and we have to find someone like her to replace her as she gets older.” This is an allegation about what was said and why—not an established account of Hallmark’s casting policy or a judicial finding about Chabert’s role.
What else did Perry claim?
Perry alleged that Hallmark treated her in an ageist and ableist manner, offered her a lower-level position with a substantial pay cut, and terminated her in April 2024. She also alleged the company hired a younger man to do her job and failed to accommodate her disability. These are claims in the employment lawsuit; the reporting cited here does not establish them as proven facts.

How did Hallmark respond?
Hallmark denied Perry’s allegations. In a statement quoted by the Associated Press, the company said: “Hallmark continues to consistently cast and maintain positive, productive relationships with talented actors representing a broad spectrum of diversity, including actors who span many age groups and cross generations.”
An AP-reported Hallmark representative also said: “Lacey and Holly have a home at Hallmark. We do not generally comment on pending litigation. And while we deny these outrageous allegations, we are not going to discuss an employment relationship in the media.”
