What has Halle Berry shared about Nahla recently?
In September 2026, Berry spoke about Nahla moving out of state for college. A Just Jared report dated September 22, relaying Berry’s remarks to People, said Berry described feeling proud and somewhat afraid as her daughter began this next stage. The report also said Maceo missed his sister as he adjusted to her absence. These are dated, attributed remarks rather than a basis for drawing broader conclusions about the family’s private life.
What is publicly known about Berry and Martinez’s custody arrangements?
Berry and Martinez announced their separation in 2015. In a joint statement quoted by the Los Angeles Times in its 2023 settlement report, they said: “We move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus of what is best for our son.” The statement records what they said at that time; it does not establish their present relationship or custody arrangements.

The Los Angeles Times reported on August 23, 2023, that their settlement provided for joint custody of Maceo and shared decisions about his schooling, medical appointments, and counseling. It also reported that Nahla could join family counseling sessions. That is a description of the 2023 settlement, not confirmation of the arrangement in force today.
What does the latest custody report say?
As of October 4, 2026, custody coverage is an active and disputed legal matter. The Los Angeles Times reported on October 2, that a judge granted a temporary restraining order sought by Martinez, temporarily limiting Berry’s visits. The paper also reported that Martinez sought sole legal and physical custody.

Martinez’s allegations have not been established as findings in the reporting cited here. The Times reported that Berry’s attorney denied and criticized the filing. The paper said a further hearing was scheduled for October 16, 2026; no outcome of that hearing is reflected in this dated account. A temporary order and a custody request should not be mistaken for a final custody ruling.
