Who did Halle Berry’s makeup—and what inspired it?
Hung Vanngo did Berry’s makeup for the 97th Academy Awards on March 2, 2025. In an interview published by Hood Magazine, he explained that her “metallic, laser-cut mirrored gown” inspired the Bond reference. He described his aim as “a modern take on the Bond girl.” The reported product choices translate that inspiration into luminous skin, warm gold highlight and a defined eye.
The Women’s Health account also identified key products from the look. Its report appeared March 3, 2025; Hood Magazine published its interview and product breakdown on March 5, 2025.

The reports list CHANEL skincare used in preparation. Women’s Health mentions the N°1 de CHANEL Massage Accessory. Build the complexion
Hood Magazine reports that Vanngo used CHANEL Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation in BD61 and BD91, then Le Correcteur de CHANEL Longwear Concealer in B50 and B60. The two foundation shades and two concealer shades are the reported products; the coverage does not specify where each shade was placed.
To set the complexion, the reports name CHANEL Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Powder in B60. Hood Magazine also lists Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sun-Kissed Powder in Deep Mauve and Joues Contraste Intense Cream-to-Powder Blush in Grenat Profond.

Add the warm highlight
The signature glow came from CHANEL Poudre Lumière Highlighting Powder in Warm Gold, named by both Women’s Health and Hood Magazine. The reports do not specify exact application points, so use a light hand on the high points of the face if adapting the look rather than treating that placement as a documented detail of Berry’s makeup.
Recreate the softly smoky eyes
Both reports list CHANEL Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow in Candeur et Expérience and Le Crayon Yeux Precision Eye Definer in Brun Teak. Hood Magazine also names Le Volume de CHANEL Mascara in Noir. Together, the reported palette, brown liner and black mascara provide the core elements for a softly defined eye.

For a more cohesive color story, Vanngo told Hood Magazine: “For a more cohesive makeup look, I added a touch of CHANEL Joues Contraste Intense Cream-to-Powder Blush in Grenat Profond onto both the cheeks and the crease of the eyelids.” This is the specific placement technique he shared; keep the blush subtle at the crease if adapting the idea for your own makeup.
Brows and lips: the finishing details
