PEOPLE reported that Osment was arrested April 8, 2025, in the Mill Base Lodge parking lot at Mammoth Mountain in Mammoth Lakes. A police source told the publication that authorities had received a call about alleged “unruly conduct” on the mountain. That phrase describes the reported reason for the call; it is not a separate offense listed in the later criminal complaint.

The initial booking allegations reported by PEOPLE were public intoxication and possession of an unidentified controlled substance. A police source said the substance was presumed to be cocaine and had been sent for testing. That was a preliminary, attributed statement—not a confirmed laboratory result.
What charges were filed?
On April 17, 2025, the Mono County District Attorney announced two misdemeanor charges: disorderly conduct under the influence of alcohol in public, under California Penal Code section 647(f), and possession of cocaine, under Health and Safety Code section 11350(a). These formal charges were distinct from the initial booking allegations.

The District Attorney’s announcement set an arraignment date of July 7, 2025. It also emphasized the legal status of the allegations: “A criminal Complaint contains charges that must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. Every defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.” A charge is not a finding of guilt.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that a judge granted Osment a one-year diversion program on June 2, 2025. Reported conditions included attending at least three Alcoholics Anonymous meetings each week and therapy twice a week for six months.
The reported dismissal was conditional: the charges were to be dismissed if Osment completed the program’s terms. If he did not, proceedings could be reinstated. The available reporting does not establish whether he completed diversion or whether the charges were ultimately dismissed, so the case’s final disposition remains unverified.
