Spoilers for the Haikyu!! manga ending. After high school, Shoyo Hinata travels to Brazil to train in beach volleyball, then returns to Japan to play indoor volleyball professionally. He and Tobio Kageyama meet again as opponents in the V.League, with their rivalry reaching its final manga confrontation in the Black Jackals–Adlers match. The ending does not end their competition; it shows them facing each other again as stronger professional peers.

What happens at the end of Haikyu!!?

The high-school tournament is not the end of Hinata’s volleyball story. After graduating, he goes to Brazil to train in beach volleyball. He later returns to Japan and resumes indoor volleyball as a professional. The official summaries for Shueisha’s Volume 43 and Volume 44 establish that transition and Hinata’s reunion with Kageyama as a V.League opponent.

The manga concludes with the professional match between Hinata’s Black Jackals and Kageyama’s Adlers. Rather than bringing the two back together as teammates, the match places them on opposing sides again. VIZ identifies Volume 45 as the final volume and describes the Black Jackals–Adlers match as reaching its conclusion.

Why does Hinata go to Brazil?

Brazil is a major step in Hinata’s development, not a detour that erases his goal of playing indoor volleyball. He goes there after graduation to train in beach volleyball, taking on a different form of the sport before returning to Japan and the professional indoor game. That change makes the time jump meaningful: Hinata’s progress comes through learning and adapting, rather than simply repeating what worked for him in high school.

Do Hinata and Kageyama face each other again?

Yes. They meet again as professional opponents in the V.League, culminating in the Black Jackals–Adlers match. Their relationship has changed several times: they first meet as rivals, become teammates at Karasuno, and ultimately face one another again as professionals. VIZ’s series introduction describes their first encounter: Hinata loses to Kageyama in middle school and vows to become his rival, only to find him at Karasuno.

The ending’s payoff is that their rivalry survives the changes in their lives and careers. Neither has to defeat the other once and for all for the story to feel complete. They have reached the level where each can keep challenging the other, now as professional peers.
