- You want prerecorded programming to continue when your home computer is off.
- You need a playlist that can repeat without someone tending a local encoder.

Prepare the playlist and rights before going live
A Tamil devotional playlist might include bhajans, temple footage, recorded puja, devotional music, or other material you have permission to broadcast. The fact that a recording is devotional, publicly available, or previously uploaded does not establish that you have the rights to rebroadcast it. Check permissions for every song, recording, image, and video, including material supplied by other people. A live-stream format does not make copyrighted material safe from claims.
Gyre markets nonstop prerecorded streaming to church communities and music channels, a workflow that may be relevant to devotional programming. Set up an encoder with YouTube
YouTube explains that “An encoder converts your video into a digital format to stream on YouTube.” Its encoder setup uses a Live server URL and stream key. The exact controls differ by encoder, so use the interface and current instructions for the one you select.
- Enable live streaming: Sign in to the channel and complete YouTube’s live-streaming setup. If this is the first time, allow up to 24 hours for activation, as YouTube says it may take that long.
- Create or schedule the live stream: In YouTube Studio, create the stream and locate its stream settings. Copy the Live server URL and stream key shown for that stream.
- Configure your encoder: In OBS or another encoder, enter the server URL and stream key in its YouTube or custom streaming service settings. Keep the key private; anyone who obtains it may be able to broadcast to the stream.
- Load and check the program: Add the intended video or playlist, confirm the audio and picture, and check that the selected stream is the one scheduled in YouTube Studio.
- Start and monitor: Start the encoder and confirm YouTube receives the feed before promoting the live stream. For a self-managed setup, keep the computer and connection running and watch for disconnects.
The cited YouTube setup guidance identifies the server URL and stream key but does not establish one universal bitrate, resolution, or keyframe setting for every source and encoder. Use current YouTube recommendations and your encoder’s documented controls rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all setting.

Troubleshooting a continuous YouTube stream
- You cannot start the stream: If live streaming has not been enabled on the channel, complete YouTube’s setup and allow for the stated first-time activation period of up to 24 hours.
- YouTube does not receive the encoder feed: Confirm that the encoder has the correct Live server URL and stream key for the stream you created, then check that the encoder is actually running.
- A local OBS stream stops when you leave: The computer or connection may have stopped, slept, or disconnected. Check power and sleep settings, network stability, and encoder status; a self-managed setup needs the local system to keep running.
- A video or song triggers a rights issue: Recheck permission for the specific recording and other assets. Changing from an uploaded video to a live playlist does not itself clear rights.
- A long stream is not fully archived: YouTube’s cited help guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume the same archive outcome for a longer broadcast.
- A performance claim sounds guaranteed: Treat vendor marketing as a vendor claim unless it supplies verifiable methods and independent evidence; streaming continuously alone does not establish a growth or monetization result.
