A walkie-talkie crackles to life at 11:11 PM, letting police officers in different eras exchange information about cold cases. That is the sharp hook of Gyaarah Gyaarah, a Hindi crime thriller that puts a time-bending mystery alongside a police investigation. The premise and central performances give it momentum, but uneven pacing and a plot some critics found convoluted keep it from being a consistently gripping watch.
What is Gyaarah Gyaarah about?
Set in Uttarakhand, the series follows officers working in 1990 and 2016 whose walkie-talkie connects them at 11:11 PM. The Times of India describes each communication window as lasting 60 seconds. Information passed between the two periods feeds into cold-case investigations, including a case involving a missing girl. The time link is the engine of the mystery, rather than a reason to expect a straightforward police procedural.

The Indian Express and India Today identify the series as based on or adapted from the Korean drama Signal. That connection gives viewers a useful point of reference, but the Indian setting and cast carry this version.
Do the performances and premise work?
The central trio is Raghav Juyal as Yug Arya, Kritika Kamra as Inspector Vamika Rawat, and Dhairya Karwa as Shaurya Anthwal. The reviews generally find the concept compelling and single out the lead performances as a strength. The Times of India praised the cast and the handling of the timelines, while India Today also highlighted the central actors.

The show’s tension comes from the narrow window in which the officers can communicate and the consequences of acting on information from another time. Director Umesh Bist described the creative challenge as blending “mysticism and mystery” into a world that feels familiar yet different in an interview with Cinema Express. That ambition suits the premise, though the finished story does not satisfy every critic equally.
Where does the series stumble?
The main divide in the reviews is execution. The Times of India found the thriller intense and gripping, but noted inconsistent pacing and flashbacks. India Today praised the hook while criticizing slow or faulty pacing and clichés; its review also raised unanswered questions about how the time connection works. Those concerns are a matter of critical response, not a guarantee that every viewer will find the mechanics unclear.

Shubhra Gupta’s review for The Indian Express was more critical, describing the narrative as stretched and convoluted and arguing that the zig-zagging timelines hurt the pace and failed to sustain enough menace. In short, the premise is more consistently praised than the plotting that has to support it.
Is Gyaarah Gyaarah worth watching?
It is a reasonable pick if you enjoy crime mysteries built around timelines, cold cases, and strong lead performances, and are willing to follow an elaborate setup that does not always move briskly. If tight plotting, clearly explained rules, and sustained momentum matter most to you, the mixed reviews suggest a more qualified recommendation.

The critical scores reflect that split: The Times of India rated the series 3.5/5, while The Indian Express rated it 2/5. These are individual critics’ judgments rather than a unanimous verdict.
