Who was Roger Ewing?
Ewing was an actor born in Los Angeles. The Television Academy identifies him as best known for his role as Thad Greenwood on the long-running Western series Gunsmoke. Neptune Society lists his full name as Roger Lawrence Ewing and says he resided in Morro Bay, California.
His work on Gunsmoke
Ewing first appeared on the series as Ben Lukens in the episode “Song for Dying,” according to INSP. He later joined the cast as Thad Greenwood, a deputy marshal. TheWrap also identifies him with the Thad role.
Published episode totals are not consistent: IMDb lists 36 episodes for Ewing as Thad Greenwood, while INSP says he appeared in more than 50 episodes without limiting that figure to the same role. Those accounts do not establish a reconciled total, so a definitive count cannot be stated from them.
