When does GTA 6 come out?
The latest announced release date is Thursday, November 19, 2026. Take-Two Interactive reiterated that schedule on June 24, 2026, when it announced preorder details. It is the current announced plan, not a guarantee that the date cannot change.

The November announcement moved the game from May 26, 2026. GameSpot calculated the shift as five months and 24 days. Rockstar said the extra time would let the team finish the game to the level of polish players expect. That is the company’s stated reason; it does not independently establish the game’s development status.

Rockstar’s November 2025 statement said: “We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.” The statement was issued by the company, not attributed to a named individual.

Why was GTA 6 delayed again?
Rockstar’s stated reason for the move to November 2026 was to give the team more time to polish the game. The company apologized for extending an already long wait. There is no basis in the announcements cited here to present a more specific production problem as confirmed fact.
The date changes followed a longer pattern: the original 2025 window announced in December 2023 became May 26, 2026, then November 19, 2026. Take-Two’s shares fell nearly 7% on the Friday of the May 2025 delay announcement, according to The Associated Press. That figure describes market movement around the earlier announcement; it does not measure fan reaction or relate to the later November move.

What fans expected—and how they reacted
The concrete disappointment was that the game would arrive later than the then-scheduled May 2026 date. Available reporting and community comments do not establish one shared expectation among fans, or a representative measure of how players reacted.
The Associated Press described reaction to the May 2025 delay as disappointment mixed with resignation. Coverage and a November 2025 Reddit discussion show varied responses to the later move, including anger at repeated date changes, skepticism that the new date would hold, jokes, and people stepping back from the hype. Those examples are anecdotal, not a poll.

Confirmed platforms and preorder details
The official announcements identify PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Take-Two’s June 24, 2026 announcement said preorders would begin June 25 at midnight local time and listed these US announced prices:

Those figures are the prices in Take-Two’s dated announcement, not a promise of current retailer pricing. Take-Two said the Ultimate Edition includes premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and content across Jason and Lucia’s story; check the live store listing for the current edition description and availability.

Take-Two also described a physical boxed version containing a download code, rather than a game disc. The company said that version would be available November 12, 2026 to support preloading. Its announcement referred to global retailer availability, but stock and offers can differ by retailer and region.
The official materials cited here do not establish a PC version or PC release date. They also described the game as “not yet rated” in June 2026; because ratings can change, that dated status should not be treated as the current rating.
