What happened to Greg Biffle and his family?
On December 18, 2025, a Cessna 550 crashed while landing at Statesville Regional Airport in Statesville, North Carolina. The National Transportation Safety Board’s investigation page identifies the aircraft and location and describes the available information as preliminary.
NASCAR and the families of those aboard identified Greg Biffle, Cristina Grossu Biffle, Emma Biffle and Ryder Biffle among the fatalities. NASCAR reported on December 20 that Greg, Cristina and both children had died. In memorial coverage published on January 16, 2026, NASCAR stated that all seven people aboard the aircraft died.
The NTSB’s preliminary status matters. A preliminary investigation may document known facts while investigators continue examining the aircraft, flight circumstances, weather, operations, maintenance and other evidence. It does not establish the final cause or contributing factors. As of August 11, 2026, the NTSB information available for this report still described the investigation as ongoing and preliminary.
