After headlines framed it that way, she said she had long been an out and proud queer, bisexual woman.
What did Gracie McGraw say?
In Pride-related Instagram Stories around the start of June 2025, McGraw celebrated being queer. The Independent reported one message as: “HAPPY FREAKING PRIDE I love being queer.”
On June 3, she addressed headlines that described her as having “come out.” As quoted by ABC News and Out.com, McGraw wrote: “Let me be VERY clear here….. I’ve been an out and proud queer, bisexual woman and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Why did she clarify the headlines?
McGraw’s point was that the coverage made a longstanding part of her identity sound like a new disclosure. Out.com reported that her family and friends had known for years; that detail is attributed to the publication, rather than presented as a statement from her relatives.

Her message also acknowledged that not everyone receives acceptance at home. ABC News quoted her saying: “So many people out there don’t have the support, love, or understanding from their families when it comes to their sexuality or gender identity, but just know that there is a beautiful community out there that loves you and cares about and for you!!” She added: “Check on your people and keep safe out there. Give love to each other.”
