The phrase “Google x NBA #CreatedOnPixel ads” refers to a group of short NBA social-media videos posted on December 12, 2023—not a single, officially titled television commercial. The clips featured Jalen Green, Jimmy Butler and Giannis Antetokounmpo around the first NBA In-Season Tournament, using behind-the-scenes basketball footage to position Google Pixel as a camera and fan-access device.
The December 20, 2023 report that brought the videos wider attention describes posts from the NBA’s official account on X. Read the contemporary report.
Who appears in the #CreatedOnPixel videos?
- Jalen Green, the Houston Rockets guard at the time.
- Jimmy Butler, the Miami Heat forward at the time.
- Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Milwaukee Bucks forward and two-time NBA Most Valuable Player.
The “Jalen” and “Jimmy” references are therefore Jalen Green and Jimmy Butler, not Jalen Brunson or another NBA player. Later Google NBA material also names Green, Butler and Antetokounmpo together in Pixel promotional imagery, reinforcing that identification: Google’s 2025 NBA All-Star coverage.
What the social videos show
Giannis’ pregame and practice footage
One post centers on Giannis in exclusive pregame material and includes a practice photograph. The available description does not establish a complete scene order, dialogue or a single continuous film.

Jalen and Jimmy at the court
A related clip shows Jalen Green and Jimmy Butler arriving at the court and appearing during training. These are access-oriented moments—arrival, preparation and practice—rather than a conventional product demonstration with a published specification sheet.
The videos were tied to the inaugural NBA In-Season Tournament during the 2023–24 season. That event connection gave the posts a timely setting and made the Pixel partnership part of the tournament conversation.
Why the hashtag says #CreatedOnPixel
#CreatedOnPixel is branded attribution: it signals that the imagery or footage is presented as Pixel-created content. It is best understood as campaign language and brand positioning, not as proof that every frame was recorded entirely on an unmodified retail Pixel phone. Professional production cameras, editing and post-production may still be involved unless Google or the NBA publishes production documentation.

The hashtag also does not identify a verified commercial title, runtime, director, agency or television schedule. Calling the December clips “ads” reflects the surrounding marketing coverage, but the evidence specifically documents short NBA posts on X.
How this fits Google’s NBA partnership
Google’s October 18, 2021 announcement made Pixel the NBA, NBA G League and NBA 2K League’s Official Fan Phone. The agreement also named Google the leagues’ official search engine and Search Trends and Fan Insights Partner, and made Pixel the presenting partner of the NBA Playoffs. That is sponsorship storytelling. An athlete’s appearance demonstrates campaign participation, not that the player uses Pixel as a primary phone or independently endorses its camera performance.
Are these the same as other Pixel basketball commercials?
No. Google released other Pixel/NBA spots with overlapping casts. Their titles, formats and casts should not be merged with the December 2023 social clips.

These related commercials provide campaign context, but their existence does not turn the December 2023 NBA posts into a confirmed television commercial.

Pixel Arena and the wider fan experience
The same 2023 coverage mentioned Pixel Arena, an NBA-themed digital “miniverse” with basketball information, avatars, mini-games and a rewards area. It is useful historical context for the campaign’s interactive ambitions. The available evidence does not establish that Pixel Arena remains available in 2026, so it should be treated as a campaign-era activation rather than a currently promised service.

Google’s current NBA-facing Pixel page promotes features including Night Sight, Video Boost, Best Take, Audio Magic Eraser, Google Lens and Add Me: Pixel and the NBA on the Google Store.

Those are features highlighted by Google’s marketing page. The available descriptions do not identify which, if any, feature was demonstrated in each Green, Butler or Antetokounmpo clip, so the videos should not be presented as feature-by-feature tests.
Can you still watch the original posts?
Social posts from December 12, 2023 may be deleted, restricted, region-limited or difficult to play in an embedded player. Preserve the original posting date when linking to an NBA or Google account, and label any third-party repost as unofficial. Do not promise that an old X embed will remain functional.
There is also no evidence that all three players appeared together in one continuous scene. The reporting describes related clips: Giannis-focused pregame and practice material, plus Jalen and Jimmy arriving and training.
What the campaign does—and does not—prove
- It shows a coordinated Google Pixel/NBA branded-content campaign built around prominent players and a major league event.
- It supports Pixel’s positioning as a way to capture access, preparation and fan moments.
- It does not independently establish camera quality, battery life, durability or the athletes’ personal phone habits.
- It does not prove that every image was shot exclusively on a consumer Pixel handset.
- It does not establish a single nationally broadcast commercial called “Google x NBA” or “#CreatedOnPixel.”

Use the Google Pixel phones page to check the model, price, trade-in, financing, carrier eligibility and availability that apply to your location and purchase date. The NBA-themed page also links to Google’s feature explanations and support options.
A Pixel is a logical fit for readers attracted to Google’s computational photography and Android integration. iPhone may suit households built around iMessage, FaceTime, Apple Watch and iCloud, while Samsung Galaxy may better fit buyers prioritizing Samsung’s broader device ecosystem, zoom hardware or foldables. No phone should be chosen solely because an NBA player appears in its advertising.
