After the domestic debut, the Associated Press reported estimated domestic opening sales of $55.5 million and an additional estimated $50.5 million internationally over the weekend. These were contemporaneous weekend estimates reported November 24, not later cumulative totals. AP said Wicked won the domestic weekend.

What are the later reported box-office totals?
Later database totals agree on the domestic gross but differ on worldwide gross. The Numbers reports $172,438,016 domestically and $460,380,411 worldwide; Box Office Mojo reports the same domestic figure and $462,180,717 worldwide. Both databases were accessed October 4, 2026. Because the worldwide figures do not match, attribute either total to its source rather than presenting one as an uncontested exact figure.

Does the box-office gross show whether the film was profitable?
No. The Numbers lists an estimated $250 million production budget, but production budget is not the full cost of making and releasing a film: marketing and distribution costs are not included in that figure. Box-office gross is also not the same as the amount a studio keeps. The gross alone therefore does not establish whether Gladiator II made a profit.
