The ghosts overhear her father’s explanation
The ghosts overhear Sam’s father tell his girlfriend that Sam’s mother was the reason he could not be around when Sam was young. The shed plan reverses in the closing joke
Thor and Flower fail to get Nigel to leave. Isaac tries himself, then volunteers to move to the shed, pleased with what he sees as a kind gesture. But Nigel tells Isaac he will move there instead because the ghosts already in the shed cannot stand Isaac. The would-be solution becomes the episode’s final reversal.

What the episode’s two storylines resolve
Sam and her father
Patience’s intervention provokes the confrontation, but the central family issue is Sam’s father’s absence while she was growing up. His explanation about Sam’s mother reaches Sam indirectly through the ghosts’ overhearing; the emotional turn comes when Sam expresses a desire for a closer relationship and they reconcile.

Isaac carries out Thor and Flower’s request to end things with Nancy, but the favor he expects in return does not work. Nigel does not leave at their request, and Isaac’s offer to move is undercut when Nigel chooses the shed himself.
