Ivan is Ivan Reitman, the filmmaker behind the original Ghostbusters (1984) and Ghostbusters II (1989). A 2024 Lehigh Valley Press review identifies the end-credit tribute as honoring Reitman; a 2024 ComingSoon explainer likewise connects the dedication to him.
His connection to Frozen Empire is therefore not simply that he was a prominent figure associated with the series: he directed its first two films. That creative legacy is the context for the brief dedication.
How did Ivan Reitman connect to the film’s production?
Editor Shane Reid described a personal connection that preceded his work on Frozen Empire. In a 2024 interview with Frame.io Insider, Reid said he had worked with Ivan on an Apple commercial. He later helped Jason Reitman make a short documentary for Ivan’s memorial service. Reid recalled that Jason then invited him to join the film, saying, “I want to bring you on board.”

The sources identify the person honored, but do not document who selected “For Ivan” or explain why those exact words were used. The invitation Reid quoted concerned joining Frozen Empire, not the dedication. So the careful answer is that the card honors Ivan Reitman; attributing its wording to Jason Reitman, the filmmakers, the studio, or the family would go beyond what these accounts establish.
