Police said Wactor was shot in downtown Los Angeles in the early hours of May 25, 2024, after finishing a bartending shift and encountering people trying to steal the catalytic converter from his car. The Associated Press reported that his mother said he thought the car was being towed. Those accounts describe the reported circumstances of the shooting, not additional medical-examiner findings.
