Gamescom will remain in Cologne: Koelnmesse and game – The German Games Industry Association announced on 2 April 2025 that they had signed a new long-term contract. The announcement did not disclose the contract’s duration or financial terms.
What does the agreement establish?
The agreement keeps gamescom in Cologne. Cologne Mayor Henriette Reker and Nathanael Liminski, North Rhine-Westphalia’s minister responsible for federal and European affairs, international affairs and media, and Head of the State Chancellery, attended the signing.
Koelnmesse CEO Gerald Böse called Cologne and gamescom “the perfect match” and a partnership that had proved successful year after year. Reker said, “Cologne is the home of gamescom and will remain so.”
How long will gamescom stay in Cologne?
The parties describe the contract as long-term, but the 2 April 2025 announcement does not give an exact term, end date, or financial terms. It therefore confirms the decision to keep the event in Cologne without establishing how many years the agreement covers.

Koelnmesse pointed to earlier support for gamescom’s visibility across the city and around the gamescom city festival, as well as contributions to formats including gamescom congress and gamescom invest circle. The announcement gives no amount for future funding.
Koelnmesse and game also said they would continue developing gamescom in Cologne alongside gamescom asia, gamescom latam, devcom and gamescom LAN. game Chairman Lars Janssen said the organizations had agreed to strengthen gamescom formats worldwide and invest in the brand and its international reach. These are stated directions; the announcement provides no quantified commitments or delivery timetable.
