Gamescom reported 335,000 visitors from more than 120 countries in 2024, 15,000 more than the 320,000 visitors reported for 2023. That is an increase of about 4.7% using the organizer’s rounded figures. The available figures do not establish that 335,000 was an all-time attendance record.
How many people attended Gamescom 2024?
The official Gamescom portfolio overview lists 335,000 visitors from over 120 countries for 2024, compared with 320,000 visitors from over 100 countries in 2023. The difference is 15,000 visitors, or approximately 4.7% relative to the 2023 figure. These are the organizer’s rounded reported totals, not a separately verified count.
Gamescom was scheduled for August 20–25, 2024, in Cologne and online, according to the organizer’s pre-event announcement. That schedule describes the dates and format announced before the show, rather than serving as an attendance measure.
What Gamescom meant by “records”
The record language in Gamescom’s early-bird announcement referred to exhibitor registrations and booked exhibition space before the event—not to final visitor attendance. The release said those early-stage measures exceeded 2019 records. Compared with the end of the 2023 early-bird phase, it reported 28% more registered companies and 66% more booked space; compared with 2019, it reported 21% more exhibitors and 10% more exhibition space at that registration stage.

Those booking figures should not be substituted for final show statistics. Gamescom’s later portfolio overview lists 1,463 exhibitors from 64 countries in 2024, but the cited overview does not identify that final exhibitor total as an all-time record.
Attendance, exhibitors and online reach are different measures
The organizer’s overview also reports more than 310 million digital views across the 2024 show program. That figure describes online views, not people attending in person, and should not be added to the visitor total.

What the early booking announcement actually said
Oliver Frese, COO of Koelnmesse, described the pre-event booking pace as “The overwhelming booking rate at this early stage is impressive proof once again of the great interest in gamescom and its essential importance for the industry.” His statement concerned early booking demand, not final attendance. The organizer’s 2024 early-bird press release also quoted Felix Falk, Managing Director of game – The German Games Industry Association, saying the increase demonstrated Gamescom’s relevance and companies’ more positive future expectations.

How to read the headline claim
Gamescom’s reported visitor total rose from 2023, while its early-bird announcement described records in bookings and planned exhibition space. Those are meaningful but distinct claims. The official figures cited here support a year-over-year rise in reported attendance; they do not establish 335,000 as an all-time attendance record.
