What changes in Suits Season 8?
Season 8, released in 2018, is part of the nine-season series. Its story shifts to a firm reshaped by the departures of Mike and Rachel and Jessica’s move to Chicago. Samantha Wheeler joins the firm’s story, while Harvey remains a central figure in its power struggle. Netflix Tudum’s Season 8 recap describes Mike and Rachel helping people in Seattle and introduces Samantha as a lawyer closely loyal to Robert Zane.
Where are the three actors in Season 8?
| Actor | Character | Season 8 status |
|---|---|---|
| Gabriel Macht | Harvey Specter | Returns as a lead in the firm’s Season 8 story. |
| Katherine Heigl | Samantha Wheeler | Joins the Season 8 cast as a lawyer at the firm. |
| Patrick J. Adams | Mike Ross | Absent from Season 8; Mike has moved to Seattle. Adams returns in Season 9. |
Gabriel Macht as Harvey Specter
Macht’s Harvey remains part of the firm’s central story. Peacock’s Season 8 listing names Macht in the cast and frames the season around the firm’s unfolding power struggle.
Katherine Heigl as Samantha Wheeler
Heigl plays Samantha Wheeler, not a character with the actor’s name. Samantha enters the firm’s Season 8 story and is tied to Robert Zane. Netflix’s recap outlines her introduction; Apple TV’s Season 8 listing also identifies Heigl with the role.

Patrick J. Adams as Mike Ross
Adams is not a Season 8 character. At the end of Season 7, Mike and Rachel leave for Seattle. USA Network’s retrospective reports that Adams departed after Season 7 and returned as Mike in Season 9, including the finale. It also attributes his decision to personal considerations and a sense that Mike’s story was complete; that is the network’s account of Adams’s remarks, not a broader claim about his career or motives.
Why do some listings include Patrick J. Adams?
Season-level cast metadata can retain a series actor’s name even when the character does not appear in that season. Apple TV’s Season 8 listing includes Adams alongside the season’s cast, but the story chronology and USA Network’s season-by-season account make the distinction clear: Mike leaves before Season 8 and returns in Season 9. A listing alone should not be read as proof that Adams appears in Season 8.
