Scroll’s January 14, 2025 interview reports that the story draws partly on Dhome’s experiences with his younger sister and weddings in his family. He sums up the ambition as “It’s the story of every home.” That is the director’s description of the film’s reach, not a claim that every family’s experience is the same.
