The Beach Boys appeared on Full House in two storylines: first in the 1988 episode “Beach Boy Bingo,” then in the 1992 two-part “Captain Video.” Their appearances fit a real musical connection between John Stamos and the band: Stamos had been playing with Mike Love and the Beach Boys since the 1980s. That history offers context, but available sources do not confirm it was the reason producers booked the group.
“Beach Boy Bingo” brought the band to the Tanner home
Apple TV lists “Beach Boy Bingo” as season 2, episode 6 of Full House, released in the United States on November 18, 1988, with a 21-minute runtime. Its synopsis sets up the plot with DJ winning a radio contest and receiving an invitation to a Beach Boys concert. Apple TV’s episode listing provides the episode number, date, runtime and premise.
The archived script fills in what happens next: fog prevents the band’s plane from landing, so the Beach Boys visit the Tanner home instead. They perform “Kokomo” with the family, then invite the Tanners to join them onstage for “Barbara Ann.” The archive credits Steve Zuckerman as director and Mark Warren and Dennis Rinsler as writers, and identifies the guest cast as “The Beach Boys: Themselves.” The episode script archive records those scene details and credits.
The band returned in the 1992 “Captain Video” story
The Beach Boys appeared again in the two-part “Captain Video” storyline, with Mike Love and Bruce Johnston visiting Jesse. Jesse performs “Forever” with them and later takes the song to a record company. The archived pages for both parts list the Beach Boys as playing themselves: “Captain Video, Part One” and “Captain Video, Part Two.”

Stamos’s musical connection is real, but the casting explanation is unconfirmed
A CBS News profile published August 27, 2023, reports that Stamos had been playing with Mike Love and the Beach Boys since the 1980s. Because that relationship predates the first documented Full House appearance, it helps explain why the recurring pairing feels natural. CBS News’s profile of Stamos documents the connection.
That timing does not prove why the band was booked. The episode records and retrospective profile establish the appearances, songs and musical relationship; they do not include a production account confirming that Stamos’s relationship with the group caused the cameos or was their sole motivation.
