The current operator of the Gulfstream G550 linked in federal-document search results to Jeffrey Epstein has not been verified. Those results identify the aircraft as a 2007 Gulfstream GV-SP (G550), manufacturer serial number 5173, historically associated with registration N212JE. They do not establish who operates it today—or that Donald Trump used this same aircraft.
Which Gulfstream is the question about?
The most reliable way to identify an aircraft across registration changes is its manufacturer serial number. The federal-document search results described here identify the airframe as serial number 5173, a 2007 Gulfstream GV-SP, commonly called the G550. One DOJ-hosted search result says it was assigned registration N415LM in March 2017 and refers to an FAA registration statement connected with Jeffrey E. Epstein and N212JE. A separate DOJ-hosted court-filing result refers to a Gulfstream GV-SP (G550)/N212JE in a discussion of ownership and expenses connected with Epstein. DOJ document search result for serial number 5173; DOJ court-filing search result referring to N212JE.
These are search-result summaries, not passages from documents reviewed in full: the PDFs redirected to a DOJ age-verification page when opened. They support the aircraft’s historical association with Epstein, but the summaries alone do not establish the complete registration history or current status.
Who operates it now?
No current operating company has been established. A historical tail number or FAA registration entry cannot answer that question: an aircraft’s registered owner and the company exercising operational control or managing charter flights may be different entities. A current operator claim needs recent documentation tied to serial number 5173, such as an operator record, a company fleet listing, or charter documentation. An informal discussion naming Threshold Aviation Group is not enough to verify that it operates this aircraft.

What can the FAA record confirm?
The FAA Aircraft Inquiry provides registration information and describes ways to request aircraft records. The FAA says its inquiry data is updated each federal working day at midnight; that cadence does not confirm that a particular entry was retrieved or that it identifies an operator. The agency also says some personal information may be withheld from broad public display at an owner’s request. FAA Aircraft Inquiry and aircraft-record information; FAA Aircraft Inquiry data-update information.
A current FAA entry could help establish the latest registration and publicly displayed registered-owner information. It would not, on its own, prove who operates the aircraft. If owner details are withheld, an LLC or trustee name should not be treated as proof of a beneficial owner.

Does the aircraft connect Epstein to Trump?
The available evidence supports a historical Epstein connection to serial number 5173, but it does not establish whether Donald Trump used this exact G550, whether a campaign chartered it, or whether the aircraft mentioned in reporting about Trump is the same airframe. That connection requires corroboration using the aircraft’s serial number or a clear chain of registration history; a matching model or tail number alone is not sufficient.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to verify the aircraft and its operator
- Search FAA Aircraft Inquiry using manufacturer serial number 5173, then note the current registration and any owner information the FAA makes public.
- Use the FAA’s aircraft-record request options to examine the registration documents or request the aircraft file if the online entry does not resolve the history.
- Look for separate, current evidence of operational control or charter management that names serial number 5173 or links it unambiguously through its registration history.
- For any claimed Trump use, require documentation that identifies this same airframe—not merely a G550 or a potentially changing registration.
Until those records connect the aircraft to a current operator, the answer remains unverified.
