After clips from recent performances prompted concern and speculation online, Frankie Valli said in September 2024 that he loved performing, intended to continue while he was able and audiences wanted to see him, and was not being forced onstage. The videos and viewers’ interpretations do not establish why he appeared to move or sing as he did.
What the performance videos showed—and what viewers inferred
A Yahoo-hosted report of a PEOPLE exclusive, published September 30, 2024, described TikTok clips from recent shows. In one, Valli appeared behind the choreography during “December 1963 (Oh What a Night)”; in another, he appeared to miss lyrics during “Bye, Bye, Baby (Baby, Goodbye).” The report said some viewers expressed concern and speculated about lip-syncing.
Those descriptions reflect how the performances appeared in the circulating clips and how viewers reacted. They are not a medical assessment, and the report did not independently verify the performances or determine whether a particular clip showed lip-syncing. Comments such as “He needs to rest!” and “He looks exhausted” were audience reactions, not evidence of Valli’s health.
What Valli said in September 2024
In a statement shared with PEOPLE and reported by Yahoo on September 30, 2024, Valli said he was grateful to be performing at age 90 and would keep doing so as long as he was able and audiences wanted to attend:
