Benjamin Hall was critically injured on March 14, 2022, while reporting near Kyiv. He survived a missile strike that killed Fox News photojournalist Pierre Zakrzewski and Ukrainian journalist Oleksandra “Sasha” Kuvshynova. His documented route home ran from the attack site to Kyiv, through Poland, to a U.S. military hospital in Germany, and then to Brooke Army Medical Center in Texas. After more than 30 surgeries and six months of treatment in Texas, Hall returned to his family in London in August 2022. He later went back to Kyiv in November 2023.

Evacuation to Germany
Fox reported that Hall was evacuated from Ukraine to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany within 48 hours of the attack. The effort involved nonprofit Save Our Allies, the U.S. Department of Defense, Fox News colleagues and other rescuers. The sources establish the broad route, but not a complete minute-by-minute account of every handoff.
Hall later reflected on the people who helped him: “I was amazed at all these heroes… risked their own lives to come and save me,” he told Fox.

Six months at Brooke Army Medical Center
Fox later reported that Hall spent six months with doctors at BAMC. Fox’s 2023 materials said he underwent more than 30 surgeries during his recovery.
Accounts differ in how they describe his injuries. Fox reported the loss of a leg, a foot, and function in one hand and eye. The Associated Press gave more specific descriptions, including the right leg below the knee, much of the left foot, sight in the left eye and the left thumb. Those descriptions should be understood as source-specific accounts rather than a single independent medical report.
