Fossil described it as a Japanese automatic watch; its May 2023 launch price was $370 in the United States. The physical details and wrist impressions below are attributed to the independent aBlogtoWatch review, not presented as our own hands-on testing.
What is the Fossil Stormtrooper watch?
It is an officially licensed Fossil and Star Wars collaboration watch from the Empire-themed second release celebrating the 40th anniversary of Return of the Jedi. Fossil announced the collection on May 26, 2023, following its Rebellion-themed release on May 4, and scheduled the second collection for global launch on May 30. The Stormtrooper was one of four limited-edition watches in the release.
The design sets a white, armor-like exterior against a black crown and a helmet motif across the dial. Instead of conventional hands for every indication, it uses discs for some of the time displays and a blaster-bolt-inspired minute hand.
How does the dial display the time?
Fossil Japan describes disc-style indications for the hours, seconds and 24-hour display. In the aBlogtoWatch review, the hour and day/night indication and the seconds appear in separate disc windows, while the blaster-bolt-shaped hand points to the minutes. The review also notes luminous indications and Aurebesh numerals on the minute track. The large applied Stormtrooper helmet is the dial’s visual centerpiece, so the display is more character-driven than a conventional, at-a-glance layout.

Fossil identifies the movement only as Japanese automatic. It does not name a caliber, power reserve or accuracy rating in the cited official material. Although the review calls the movement a typical automatic, it does not identify a maker or caliber and provides no instrumented timing results; there is no basis here to claim a particular level of accuracy or performance.
Case, bracelet and wear impressions
The 43 mm diameter and integrated bracelet give the watch a substantial footprint. The aBlogtoWatch reviewer said the all-white color made it look visually lighter than its dimensions might suggest and described it as comfortable on the wrist. Those are one reviewer’s impressions, not a guarantee of fit or comfort for every wearer.

The white surface is a resin coating over stainless steel, not solid white metal. The reviewer cautioned that the coating may chip and did not consider the watch a tough tool watch. That distinction matters if the watch will see frequent knocks: the striking finish is part of its appeal, but its durability should not be assumed from the steel underneath.
The review reports 50-meter water resistance. Separately, its author advised avoiding chlorinated or salt water as a precaution because of possible effects on the coating, while acknowledging uncertainty about those effects. This is reviewer guidance, not a Fossil care instruction or a manufacturer guarantee about the coating.

Limited-edition packaging and collector details
Fossil says each watch is individually numbered and comes in collector packaging with cinematic sound effects, comic-book-style illustrations and a replica movie-ticket pin. The aBlogtoWatch review reports a production run of 1,483 pieces and adds that the box plays the line “Freeze! Don’t Move!” on demand. The reviewer also describes a decorative caseback, an engraved plate on the exterior of the box and a pin styled after a 1983 movie ticket.
The numbering is an official Fossil feature; the specific total of 1,483 is the quantity reported by the review. The movie-themed presentation makes the set more than a standard watch box, but it is worth distinguishing those collectible extras from the watch’s technical specifications.

What did it cost at launch, and is it still available?
Fossil listed a United States launch price of $370. Fossil Japan listed ¥61,050 including tax. These are market-specific prices from 2023, not current offers, resale values or a direct currency comparison.
Fossil’s 2023 release said the collection would be sold through Fossil.com and selected Fossil retail stores beginning May 30. A Fossil Canada collection page accessed October 7, 2026 continues to provide wider Star Wars collection context and mentions the Stormtrooper model, but does not establish that this specific watch is in stock. Current availability and seller authenticity therefore need to be checked at the point of purchase.

How it fits the 2023 Empire collection
The Stormtrooper model was not the only automatic in the Empire release. Fossil’s US announcement listed Darth Vader and Boba Fett at $370 with automatic movements; Fossil Japan’s release identifies the TIE Fighter model as a $300 quartz watch. Those launch prices are historical, and the watches differ in character design, display and construction as well as movement type. The Stormtrooper’s defining trade-off is its bright, coated finish and unusual disc display—not simply its place in the collection.
