Former Geordie Shore cast member Grant Coulson publicly identified as gay in an interview reported by PerthNow on August 11, 2023. He said he had kept his sexuality private while pursuing reality television and estimated that he had slept with at least 30 women during his time on the show. That figure is Coulson’s reported estimate, not an independently verified count.
What Grant Coulson said about coming out
Coulson said he had known for years but had hidden his sexuality while appearing on television. “For years I hid the real me and now I am finally happy,” PerthNow quoted him as saying, describing coming out as a weight lifted from his shoulders. He also said he had already told close family members and some castmates, including Chloe Ferry.
He recalled worrying that being open might cost him reality-TV opportunities: “When I was doing TV shows I didn’t want anyone to know back then because I feel like it would have ruined the opportunity.” This is Coulson’s account of his concern; it is not evidence of a casting policy.
Why the report mentioned dozens of women
PerthNow reported Coulson’s estimate that he had “bedded at least 30 women” during his time on Geordie Shore. The number is a personal estimate attributed to him, not a verified statistic. His account is about his own experience and should not be treated as evidence about gay men or sexual orientation generally.

His experience on Geordie Shore
PerthNow dates Coulson’s first appearance on the show to 2014 and says he returned in 2018. Coulson described feeling pressure to fit the show’s on-screen atmosphere, recalling: “It was a bit like you were in character because on Geordie Shore, you are around these alpha males who go out every night pulling lasses basically.” These are his reported recollections of his experience.
What was reported about his relationship
In the August 2023 announcement, Coulson was described as being with a partner named Scott. The report said they had a dog named Hugo and had discussed a future together, including marriage. An Out follow-up on August 14, 2023, repeated an allegation from a source quoted by The Mirror that Scott had kissed another woman. That remains a reported allegation, not an independently confirmed account. These articles do not establish Coulson’s current relationship status.
